Understanding And Coping With Client Resistances Social Work Essay

Comprehension And Coping With Client Resistances Social Work Essay Proficient social laborers much of the time experience a prickly circumstance called customer obstruction. As opposition is unavoidable in the intercession procedure and will probably influence the mediation results, investigation of customer obstruction is imperative to social specialists and figuring out how to oversee it will be significant to accomplish anticipated objectives and destinations. This paper will right off the bat portray the writer⠿⠽⠿â ½s individual experience in order to put the issue of customer opposition on the plan and give a short depiction of automatic customers or customer obstruction, at that point present the writer⠿⠽⠿â ½s comprehension of them regarding their few particular highlights, lastly propose provisional techniques of adapting to customer obstruction. Catchphrases: opposition; automatic customers; mediation abilities Presentation As possible social specialists, we presumably will be carried into contact with increasingly more  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½involuntary clients⠿⠽⠿â ½ later on, as intellectually sickness patients, degenerate conduct teenagers, savage guardians, battered youngsters, and so on.. Some of them are  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½legally commanded to draw in with administration providers⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Rooney,1992), while others are encountering  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½social or non-lawful weights, for instance, being pressured by relatives to look for help for a specific behavior⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Rooney,1992). These sorts of customers establish a high extent of entire customers and show more safe practices than those willful ones. Frequently, they don't look for help energetically and may exhibit safe practices, for example, negative avoidances, imagined acquiescence or undisguised threats, dangers and assaults from the earliest starting point of the worker⠿⠽⠿â ½s mediation. Along these lines, how to communicate with and mediate in this kind of customers has become an enormous test in the field of social work practice and it is significant for social specialists to get a more profound comprehension of automatic customers. Case Example X used to be a grade teacher with a fine pay, and her significant other Y has been running a plant which makes a lot of riches to the entire family. Everything appeared to be immaculate that the couple were dedicated to one another and have a little girl C who was in her second year in an acceptable college. Lamentably, X was broadly scorched in a blast mishap three years back. From that point forward, she lost self-assurance on account of her deformed face and would not go out for the feelings of trepidation of being chuckled at. The little girl Z attempted to took her out for an airing and facilitate her tensions and mediocrity about the distortion however fizzled. Since many individuals pointed at her in the city, X felt difficult and would in general disconnect herself. To compound the situation, not very long after her mishap, her significant other Y started to make relationship with another lady and was investing an enormous total of energy and cash on that lady. He went to his production line early and back home late consistently and only here and there had suppers at home which was totally not quite the same as what it was previously. Notwithstanding Y⠿⠽⠿â ½s lack of interest, Z was learning at a college so distant from home that she couldn't go with her mom constantly. Subsequently, X consistently staied alone at home with the sentiment of powerless and sad. Albeit in some cases Y would return home and cook suppers for A, he didn't have anything to converse with X. As a matter of fact, the little girl Z here is me. I was very anguished, seeing my initially amicable family quickly vanished. I attempted to adapt to such a discouraging family air, however thought that it was troublesome. Notwithstanding, when I think back and join the past encounters with what I have realized in MSW, I have been understood that there were such a great deal of imprudent moves had been made to determine my family issues. Models are appeared as follows: In that timeframe, I would in general speak with my mom more than with my dad and owe this distinction to sexual orientation similitude and the sad enduring of my mom. I invested a lot of energy in encouraging her since she was the main casualty as in my own observation. I continually showing my mom how to quiet herself down and change her outlooks, in order to make due in a hopeless inclination. Startlingly, when I recommended her talking more with my dad, she just jeered, saying  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½he is headstrong to such an extent that nothing will change his mind⠿⠽⠿â ½. It could be construed that she was as yet negative and needed inspiration to make changes despite my reliable support. Then again, the generalizations that men are in every case intellectually more grounded than ladies made me completely overlooked that my dad was enduring torments and he required consideration also. Barely had I chosen to worry for and speak with my dad when I discovered that I should contemplate him early. The most testing thing was that he had been significantly hesitant to discuss either his previous or current relationship with my mom particularly the data about his extramarital love. He even didn't concede any issue he had made. I need to recognize that I was irate when I discovered that my dad had been double crossing his better half and was exceptionally enthusiastic and lopsidedly preferential against subsequently. Just currently did I comprehend the reasons why I neglected to help my folks in settling their logical inconsistency. My insufficient thought of my father⠿⠽⠿â ½s character and the pride as a man nearly transformed an equivalent exchange into a neglectful quarreling. Truth be told, my dad was disobedient in the entire meeting since he was anxious about the possibility that that his legitimate status in the family would be destroyed, in any case, I didn't understand that sort of reluctance around then. Almost certainly, neither my mom nor my dad is my customer in the feeling of expert, yet in the event that they are seen as customers, it will be a great instance of customer opposition. Meaning of Client Resistance While doing the writing survey, I found that the term automatic is in some cases utilized conversely with safe, in any case, the previous alludes to  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½the status of the client⠿⠽⠿â ½, while the last alludes to  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½ practices or qualities that thwart the restorative process⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Chui Ho, 2006). Typically, automatic customers show some safe contemplations and practices. Freud (1914/1957) initially conceptualized opposition as  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½the client⠿⠽⠿â ½s exertion to curb nervousness inciting recollections and bits of knowledge in the oblivious during psychoanalytic free association⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Freud, 1914/1957). As indicated by the point of view of social collaboration hypothesis, obstruction is  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½psychological powers stirred in the customer that control acknowledgment of impact (acknowledgment of the advocates proposal) and are created by the manner in which the recommendation is expressed and by the qualities of the advisor expressing it⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Strong Matross, 1973). Just expressed, opposition has been characterized as  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½a procedure of maintaining a strategic distance from or reducing oneself revealing correspondence mentioned by the questioner as a result of its ability to make the interviewee awkward or anxious⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Pope, 1979). Customer obstruction ought not be viewed as  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½something that occurs inside the customer, as a reaction to their internal activities, and must be overwhelmed by the counselor⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Cowan Presbury, 2000). Or maybe, opposition ought to be comprehended as  ¿Ã¢ ½Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½a marvel that rises among customer and specialist in the unfurling communication between their contrastingly sorted out emotional worlds⠿⠽⠿â ½ (Cowan Presbury, 2000). In a word, obstruction is treated as results from the correspondence example of the guide and the customer. As such, obstruction rises when the mediation techniques are not apparatus to clients⠿⠽⠿â ½ ability to acknowledge the style in which the intercession is directed. Common Involuntary Clients This part is an individual comprehension towards customer opposition. In view of an assessment of the case model and the writing audit, I summed up three sorts of automatic customers. 1. Customers Who Have Inadequate Strength or Ability A few customers don't be able to deal with themselves or look for help from others, for example, the crippled, the battered youngsters and the surrendered old. These customers are regularly constrained by others to counsel an office and a social specialist. 2. Customers Who Have Insufficient Motivation The customers who fall into the troublesome situation for quite a while may feel intellectually depleted and have no additional will to look for help. Accept some battered ladies for instance, they will in general have a hopeless perspective on the marriage on account of the scholarly weakness and may think that its insignificant to participate in the intercession undertakings. Like the individuals who have lacking quality or capacity, most of the deficiently persuaded customers are not energetically gone to the mediation errands. 3. Customers Who Lack Introspection Albeit a few people realize that they are buried in troubles due to their mischievous activities, they have inadequate self-thought, and self-assessment when confronted with the issues they have, which, subsequently, make the issues backslide over and over. This is likewise the motivation behind why most medication or alcoholic abusers think that its hard to totally defeat their augmentations. Abilities of Coping with Client Resistance For automatic customers, it is a typical wonder that they will be hesitant towards self-introduction and moderate to their own experience since they stress over that not doing so would compromise their self-idea. It is important for a social laborer to figure out how to ease clients⠿⠽⠿â ½ over the top uneasiness. Social specialists are required to change their intercession techniques and the styles to the need of customers. Si

Shakespeare features this impulse through the affection play of Adonis and Venus. It used to be prevalent in developed countries, however, changes in behavior and lifestyle patterns in developing countries has also caused an increase in the incidence of cardiovascular disease. This is referred to by Walley Wright (2010) as the epidemiologic transition. Cardiovascular diseases occur as a result of disorders of the heart and blood vessels (WHO, 2014). The Fight Against Aboriginal Adolescent Suicide - 1806 Words

In North American society, the idea of mental health and suicide is presented quite frequently. Whether it is someone directly associated with oneself (friend, family member, co-worker, etc.) or the news recapping another life lost to suicide, it is an ongoing battle and it affects everyone. In 2010, there was 3,951 reported lives lost to suicide in Canada (â€Å"Suicides and suicide rates†, 2014). Navaeelan (2012) points out that suicide is a major cause of preventable death, and it is the second leading cause of death among youth. Within the youth population in Canada, Aboriginal youth are most at risk for attempting suicide, with rates 5-7% higher than those of non-Aboriginal heritage (Health Canada, 2013). The ongoing battle against†¦show more content†¦The origin of culture stress for the Indigenous populations dates back to the late 15th century when the French and British settled along the Atlantic coast. The Europeans took over the Indigenous peoples’ l and and slowly began forcing the First Nations peoples westward in an attempt to â€Å"control the relationships between First Nations and colonists† (â€Å"First Nations in Canada†, 2013). Another major moment in history that added to the cultural stress for Indigenous peoples was the passing of the Indian Act of 1876. The list is endless when talking about the ways the Indian Act contributed to cultural stress for Aboriginal peoples, but the following are key points that have held the highest negative impact in regards to suicide rates with Aboriginal peoples: implementing reserves, creating residential schools, and renaming individuals with European name (Joseph, 2015). The implementation of the reserves was a massive cultural stressor for Indigenous peoples as many were nomadic hunters and relied on the ability to travel to maintain their food source (â€Å"First Nations in Canada†, 2013). Though this is not a factor in society today, reserve living is still challenging for some, especially those First Nations located in remote communities. In 2011, the Pikangkikum First Nations reserve in northwest Ontario became all too familiar with burying their young after six teenagers committed suicide in the span of two months (Thompson, 2011). Thompson (2011) notes that

Transport and Distribution Management of Coca Cola †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Transport and Distribution Management of Coca-Cola. Answer: Introduction Coca-Cola Company is one of the greatest known global beverage manufacturing companies with operation in over two hundred countries across the world. The company through its manufacturing plants produces over four hundred daily shipments and it is responsible for over 1000 points of deliveries, the creation of 4,000 finished products as well as over 5,000 thousand packaging materials and ingredients. The company operates in various countries with operations that require heavy logistical operations leading the company to seek a suitable way of delivery without incurring unnecessary extra costs (Coca-Cola, n.d.). Up to until, 2009, Coca-Cola had no a specific standardized transportation management system. This presented a major challenge to its logistical operations and further affected their vision 2020 on business strategy goals. The challenges further arose from companys inability to determine a suitable supply and chain management partner who would manage the companys logistics activities to the expected level. The company needed to understand the logistics costs involving an external operator, in their bid to increase their level of inventory and continuous increase in the sales every year; according to their business objectives. Coca-Cola, therefore, started their projects and in the year 2009, they brought on board Future Logistics Optimization; Oracles supply management partner to support full implementation by early 2010 (Flo Group, n.d.). Through their association, Flo managed to develop a lasting fully integrated operations system. The system included the use of electronic data in reporting activities and freight payments. This was made successful by 2011, and to date, the company manages inbounds and the outbound through the online system. The company standardized its operations and in the year 2012, they selected Oracle Transportation Management which is responsible for managing all the inbound supplies between the plants and their networks. Incoterms Selection and Consideration The extent of the Coca-Cola operations across the globe means that the company has a diversified system of trading terms. The company operates within a wide range of countries under separate management. Sometimes the regional manufacturing plants are responsible for the management of all the logistical procedures and policies depending on the country of operation. Being a global company, Coca-Cola has to cope with extreme variation in international laws and the trading policies that are used in the countries of operations. Therefore, on the factor of Incoterms considerations, Coca-Cola has applied different strategies depending on the country of operation and also depending on the choice of the supply partners or carriers. For instance, the division of the Coca-Cola Company depending on the region, such as the Coca-Cola HBC for Europe and Coca-Cola Sabco for Africa means that the distribution needs of the company sometimes are solved within the market sphere of the specific countries. The selection of the Incoterms addresses the business terms of the company towards its buyers and suppliers (Coetzee, 2010). Coca-Cola Company practices a variety of Incoterms, but the commonly practiced in the line of their transportation activities include Delivery Duty Paid (ADP), which involves the company paying all the charges involved in delivering the goods to the buyer (distributors). Secondly, the company uses EXW-Ex Works. In this case, after the production process, the registered distributors take the full responsibility of the product from the company. Then lastly, the company also applies the Carriage Paid To (APT), whereby the company pays for the freight charges and all the carriage charges to the point of destination. From this point, the distributors and suppliers take charge of the products. There is, however, other Incoterms that a company might put to use including the Carriage Insurance Paid To (CIP). The CIP would be reasonable Incoterm for Coca-Cola since most of the companys transportation activities are addressed within the firm (Genesis Capital Management Group, n.d.). However, the incorporations of these Incoterms may pose a challenge for the company given the complexity and diversity of the companys operations. It is quite difficult for the company to unify all of its trading policies across the world. While some rules remain universal, issues related to Incoterms could be adjusted to suit the needs of the company depending on the prevailing trade terms and policies. Therefore, flexibility is fundamental. Carrier Selection Criteria The carrier selection criteria of the Coca-Cola Company consider a number of factors. There are a number of several factors to consider when selecting a carrier for your logistics solutions. These include the environmental soundness. The selected carrier should be environmentally sound in regard to issues such as carbon emissions and other environmental agendas. Associating with a company with a poor reputation in environmental pollution may lead to the poor brand image. Secondly, efficiency and reliability are paramount. The selected carrier should be an efficient operator in the delivery and the time management to avoid delays and other unnecessary losses. The last but not least factor is the cost efficiency. The carrier selected should be economically affordable, and generally with reasonable freight charges. Coca-Cola Company with diversified operations across the world has most of its carrier services addressed regionally. Furthermore, the company has significant developed an integrated internal carrier system with their own trucks and containers for the supply and distribution of their products to their warehouses and pick up points. Secondly, their carrier system deals with the transportation of the ingredients and the packaging materials (Coca-Cola, n.d.). However, these are just some of the internal mechanisms. The company has other carrier needs across the globe. The company had for a long time struggled with a harmonized logistics systems. And for this reason, they brought on board Oracle Transportation Management. Oracle is a reputable supply management software provider handling transport issues for globally renowned brands including Heineken. They formulated a fully integrated system that addressed all the supply chain management and logistics through an automated system. Through this system, Coca-Cola can easily manage all the inbound and outbound transportations through online mechanisms. The system is also used to store all the carrier records. This system is used by the company in association with their Carrier partners such as ITECO Corporation. The Carrier Relationship Management The relationship between the Company and the Carriers should always be smooth. This is in relation to business terms. The good relationship involves a variety of factors, which are affected by the freight charges, the contractual terms and the technological factor among other factors. The good relationship between the company and the carriers should be enhanced by the positive relationships in terms of honoring the contractual terms and fulfillment of the agreements without the breaching. It is fundamental for such relationships to remain as professional as possible and only within the stipulated contract terms. Every party has to honor their part; the carrier to deliver the supplies safely and in time and the company honoring their payments on time. This enhances trust and continued business relationships. The Coca-Cola Company maintains a very professional carrier relationships and it has set a number of regulations and policies to manage all of its supplier conducts. With the company having a substantial externally outsourced carrier system, they put very strong measures to ensure that they meet all the criteria from the technological point of view, their freight charges, their freight capacity as well as their efficiency and reliability of their operations. The significance of contract negotiations is important in the carrier relationship management. It sets the tone for the subsequent business operations. Therefore, the terms of the contract should include further extra charges and some of the cost-saving mechanisms that can be used for both the company and the carrier. There should be transparency including the availability of freight data, and continuous contact in all aspects that affect the business association between the company and the carriers. This relationship can be enhanced sometimes by use of the external outsourced broker, who acts as a link and manages all the carrier relationship management on behalf of the company and the carrier. Conclusion The Incoterms have diverse characteristics and they vary according to the business needs of the people involved. They can also be complicated depending on the mode of the operations a company employs. This is evident in relation to Coca-Colas global operations. The company had not, until 2009, developed an extensive and a harmonized transportation system. The other important point to note is that the Incoterms are mostly used in the global logistics and freight management. They are the regulating policies that guide the traders on the best available logistics charges to adopt and consider in the transportation and delivery of goods. While the Coca-Cola Company uses a variety of Incoterms depending on the prevailing business situations; their complete incorporation of the terms is faced with a lot of challenges that have been addressed through the diversity of the company's operations. The professional carrier relationship is attributed to effective Human Resource management (Hussain Ahmad 2012). The human resources department is responsible for the strategic alignment of a company (Shen et al. 2009). Turner, Huemann Keegan (2010), outlined that through the human resource, there is coordination of operations and this has been Coca-Colas strongest point. References Coca-Cola. (n.d.). Our Company. Incarceration of African American Males Essay Example

Incarceration of African American Males Essay Example Incarceration of African American Males Essay Incarceration of African American Males Essay Introduction The tendency of African American males between the ages of 25 and 29 has seen a dramatic addition of captivity. Attention has been concentrating on countries of lodging. instruction. and health care but the most outstanding job for African American males is the addition in the captivity rate. African American males between the ages of 25 and 29 captivity rate has been thought. by many. to be caused by economic factors such as under employment or unemployment. hapless lodging. deficiency of instruction. and deficiency of health care. Yet. others believe it is due to the instability of minorities within the condemnable justness system. such as Judgess. attorneies. and lawgivers. This paper will research two different mentalities ; society has come up with so far. as to why African American Males between the ages of 25 and 29 are progressively incarcerated. Finally. the information will give consciousness to the jobs that is faced by African American Males between the ages of 25 and 29. Prevalence – Problem 1 More than 40 % of all American captives. work forces and adult females. are African American work forces. yet they make up merely 13 % of the U. S. male population ( Roberts. 2004 ) . This statistic does non include those African American work forces who are in local gaols nor does it include those African American work forces under tutelary supervising ( Table 2 ) . They enter the province and federal prison system. at the prime of their economic and generative lives and yet they exit prison behind both economically and socially. The high rate of captivity among African Americans has been noted by the interconnectedness of hapless economic system. deficiency of low-cost lodging. mental unwellness. substance maltreatment. domestic force. absence of a strong black male function theoretical account. deficiency of entree to instruction. or some type of combination of these factors. Statisticss don’t even give African American males a good opportunity to remain out of gaol. They have a one in four opportunity of being incarcerated. while Latino American males have a 1 in six opportunity. and white males merely have a 1 in 20 three opportunity of captivity. The colour of African Americans sets them apart and makes them targetable. Prevalence – Problem 2 There is grounds. in our American Justice System. of structural inequality as seen in the per centums of minorities to the per centum of bulks employed in high ranking places. within the system. The per centum of United States Judgess by race are 79 % Caucasian. 12 % African American. and 2 % Spanish americans American ( Federal Judicial Center. 2012 ) . as for the 1000s of attorneies in the United States it is approximative of 3 % are African American ( National Law Group. 2010-2011 ) . and about 1 in 4 constabulary officers are members of a racial or cultural minority in 2007 ( Bureau of Justice Statistics. 2013 ) . An probe into racial profiling showed that African American and Latino American wrongdoers. who frequently are immature unemployed males. are more likely than their white opposite numbers ( Spohn. C. . 2000 ) . Their prison sentences are besides typically longer or they receive differential benefits from guideline goings than do likewise situated white wrongdoers ( Spohn. C. . 2000 ) . We must admit the jobs of racial disparity within the condemnable justness system. pass on racial disparity within the condemnable justness system with those we who are non informed of the job. and remain committed to altering racial disparity within our justness system for alteration to get down. Causes In researching the high rate of captivity in America it is more likely than non that the addition in African American Males being incarcerated is due to the War on Drugs ( Table 1 ) . It is public cognition that drug offense ranks high among the effects of poorness. These hapless vicinities non merely digest offense they have hapless schools. hapless nutrient. cramped populating countries. and deficit of occupations if any occupations at all. Drugs and drug offense has become regularity in low income communities. apprehensions of Spanish americans made up 55 % of cocaine pulverization offenses and 52 % of marihuana discourtesies and 49 % affecting opiates: African Americans were suspected in 75 % of cleft cocaine instances ; White males were suspected in 41 % all Methedrine instances ( Motivans. M. . 2011 ) . Decades of failed public and private redresss for chronic disparities and disadvantages in communities of colour invite us to review systems and establishments that provide and restrict chance in new ways ( Lawrence. K. . 2011 ) . The causes seem to be intertwined being hapless peers. peers a hapless instruction. peers deficiency of employment. and finally peers an increased rate of offense. Consequences The causes seem to be intertwined being hapless. peers deficiency of instruction. which equals deficiency of employment. which peers increased rate of offense which equals impossibleness to fall in condemnable justness system. Besides. many of these work forces are incarcerated while all the other non-incarcerated American immature work forces are completing school. get downing callings. gaining senior status at work. marrying and holding kids therefore deriving capital. Even when released from prison. these work forces return back to their communities with a felony record that will present utmost jobs for them. The captivity leads the released inmate into a lower societal category even if they were considered lower category Americans prior to their captivity ; they now are lower in societal category standing in most cases. This leads to a hapless African American community. possibly every bit many as 50 % of the male population will hold been in prison. These incarcerated African American Males. who are in their prime of life. besides are go forthing half the households in this community confronting such things as poorness. deficiency of low-cost lodging. mental unwellness. substance maltreatment. force. absence of a strong black male function theoretical account. deficiency of entree to instruction. or some type of combination of these factors. The community finally will go poverty afflicted. fighting to last. and finally vulnerable to the state of affairs reiterating. Solutions – How can this be changed? There are four cardinal facets to turn toing racial disparity. in my sentiment: 1. Acknowledge 2. Communication 3. Setback = Strength 4. Committedness Not merely is the job of racial disparity under recognized by society it is non being communicated efficaciously to do alteration. Majority groups needs to admit racial disparity and minority groups need to pass on their cognition sing racial disparity. As each group bulk and minority begins to go portion their information with each other and work together for a common solution admiting there will be reverses but with continued commitment systemic alteration will go on. Decision By declining to digest disparate intervention of people of colour or anyone within the condemnable justness system we empower ourselves and our state. It is clip that everyone including our legislators. jurisprudence enforcement. prosecuting officers. defence lawyers. and Judgess work jointly and bravely to eliminate this negative stigma. Despite. America being known for its equal rights we are populating cogent evidence that in this epoch inequality is a factor that can non be taken lightly. The statistics that are environing African American males is amazing. We need to authorise African American males with the cognition that they have a one in four opportunity of going incarcerated. It is besides of import to cognize that Latino males have a 1 in six opportunity. and white males have a 1 in 20 three opportunity of captivity. All of these statistics need to be addressed to authorise each and every one us. Throughout history we have non seen a alteration in bulk groups ( White. Male ) and minority groups ( Women. anyone that is non White ) although we have seen Numberss of minorities increasing at a fast gait. Today. nevertheless. the election of Barack Obama. non one time but twice. may put the new ideal of what an American really is. As we embrace different civilizations and their cultural backgrounds society will thrive. As society increases their cognition. in respects to each person’s differences. they will get greater strength and prosperity. The lone issue. that can happen. will be in the short term authorising others to encompass diverseness. When we look beyond short-run. focal point will switch to diverse authorization through encompassing the cognition of our differences therefore doing us stronger as a society. Tarrifs and Trade Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Tarrifs and Trade - Essay Example Thus, the overall effect of a tariff implemented by a small nation must reduce the national welfare (Nunn & Trefler, 2010). Thus, whenever a small country will implement the tariff, the national welfare is bound to fall, and the higher the tariff will be set, the more the loss will be experienced and consumers will lose as government recipients and producers spending gain. In a large country, consumers of the good suffer from the price increase, as the producers will experience a well-being increase from the tariff. Thus, the tariff net effect is composed of three major results that are a negative distortion in production, positive trade effect terms as well as a negative consumption distortion. Thus, there are both positive and negative elements as the effect can be either negative or positive. However, the overall result is that it can be positive implying that a tariff that is implemented by a large nation may increase the national welfare (Debaere & Mostashari, 2010). Unlike quotas, tariffs are important as they generate the government some revenue. The US according to statistics collects over 20 billion a year from revenue from tariff that could be lost with quotas (Motoshige Itoh & Yoshiyasu Ono, 1982). Another reason is that quotas may result in administrative corruption. Tariffs provide customs officials with authority and power providing access to favored organizations and denying the lesser-favored ones as opposed to import quotas. Moreover, import quotas have a high probability of causing smuggling especially when set at unreasonable values (Grant, Hertel, & Rutherford, 2009). A strong dollar is good while, on the other hand, weak is bad. As the generalization sounds simple, it is very different and confusing when it comes to the dollar. A strong dollar is very strong when compared to other foreign currency, and the vice-versa is

Climate change and food security Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Climate change and food security - Assignment Example . Wheat bread, peanut butter, fruit juice, and raisin beverage made up my breakfast I feared consumption of chemical components from the foods processing processes and threats of genetic engineering that I believe can interfere with my genome. Even though my snack for the day was orange fruit, there was still the fear of possible genetic engineering in the fruits’ development. Wheat bread, chicken stew, potatoes, milk, and green grams were the other consumptions of day one and even though I perceived no alternative for safe consumption, I feared the foods’ safety levels. Calorie level in the consumption was another concern and I decided to research on calorie characteristics of my food components for minimization. Consumptions in the second also consisted, predominantly, of natural foods with uncontrollable food safety concerns. Oatmeal, raisins, beef, rice, milk, and fruits were the major components with threats of genetic engineering and, though limited, the amount of chemicals that could have been applied in their processing and temporary preservation. I however ensured reduced levels of calories intake through restricting volumes of consumption per food type. Bran flakes, potatoes soup, beef, and rice formed the major component of my third day food intake with other natural foods like milk and fruits. While these retained my fears of direct chemical contamination together with adverse effects of biological engineering on the foods’ sources, processed foods were also identifiable to increase my worries on the day’s intake.... irect chemical contamination together with adverse effects of biological engineering on the foods’ sources, processed foods were also identifiable to increase my worries on the day’s intake. Jelly, margarine, and sugar-enriched lemonade are the major examples of processed components of the day’s consumption. Consumptions in day four was more conscious of processed food and observed calories levels through nutrient information and quantity of each of the consumed food type. The day’s consumption was a revised diet set from day one’s consumption for better safety level and I believe the reduced calories level consumption achieved this. Intakes in the remaining three days alternated between the major components of the types of foods in the first four days and my general opinion on my food choices is that however much we try to select safe food products; our choices are limited by available products and developed preferences. Food safety therefore remai ns a major concern and political forces, instead of individual power through money, should ensure safety. This is because such money power at consumer level is decentralized and ineffective. Reflection Food safety consciousness, especially after watching the Food Inc film, motivated me to research on sources of available food products and observed safety standards by different food processors. Available information from internet sources has for example informed of the different sources of my food, geographical locations of sources of natural supplies, and manufacturers of processed supplies. I am also aware of distribution channels of major foods among my consumables and possible activities at each level of the channels. Similarly, I am also informed of regulatory strategies and regulatory agencies over the food

A Woman’s Place and a Man’s Duty Essay Example for Free

A Woman’s Place and a Man’s Duty Essay The author Maria Del Carmen Triana explains the vast difference between the wage income gap over the years between men and women, and how it plays an important role in today’s competitive society. Gender income gaps have become a hot debate topic for many. Gender income gaps can affect a marriage and family as well as cause friction in the work place. Sexual discrimination also plays an important role in Gender income gaps as well. In most Corporate and White Collar jobs, stereotypes and wage earner status have an effect on men and women. Triana explains what she calls â€Å"home related spillover discrimination† which is, women being primary wage earners in households. Triana also goes on to explain that a major wage difference between men and women could be a new form of sexual discrimination. Because this is one of the first studies showing stereotyping roles, it can only be an assumption. According to Triana, research in the work place are being penalized thru wage earning for gender role playing. (Dipboye 1985; Heilman 1983). Triana Proposes that the idea of what feminine and masculine behavior in the work place should be can actually work against the female primary wage earner. She feels that this gender behavior could influence people to â€Å"under- award† the female to keep them from succeeding too far ahead of their husbands. Gender Deviance and Household Work In this article about Gender Roles, Daniel Schneider reports that couples spending a substantial amount on housework such as repairs around the house, shopping, cooking and cleaning could be defined as â€Å"Gender Work.† Housework was once referred to as a â€Å"Woman’s job.† Studies show that men are stepping into the position to help in the home and watch the children while the mother fulfills her job requirements in Corporate America. The author claims that â€Å"predictions† have been focusing on wives that earn more than their husbands, which stereotype the bread winner as normality. The author refers to this as â€Å"Gender Deviance.† According to his research, married couples have been known to neutralize the gender deviance by dividing the work load at home. An example of this would be: men washing dishes, folding cloths cooking and cleaning, while providing less income and women working long hours at work to provide the majority of the income for the family. Schneider also argues that what men and women do in the job market may very well affect household work and hours. Schneider goes on to state that men who work in occupations stereotyped to be feminine could be seen as a form of gender deviance as well. Schneider uses data gathered from the National Survey of Families and Households (NSFH2) to conduct his research. He goes on to explain that gender deviance is the† product of social doings of some sort,† and that if women did not gender themselves some actions would not make any sense. Over a period of time women have reduced the amount of time spent on housework and increased social activities with the kids to help balance of a parent being absent from school events. Studies also show an increase in the men actively participating in parent/teacher conferences and after school practices while the women are in the work force. References Schneider D. The Role of Fate in William Shakespeares The Tragedy of Romeo and Juli

The Role of Fate in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet 'Romeo and Juliet', the first romantic tragedy was based on a poem translated from the French 'Novella' (1595). Romeo Montague, who is in love with Rosaline, goes to a party in an attempt to take his mind off her. At this party he meets Juliet Capulet and immediately falls in love with her. Later he finds out that she is a Capulet, the rival family of the Montagues. He decides that he loves her in spite of this, and so does Juliet. They confess their love for each other during the very famous balcony scene in which they agree to secretly marry the next day. Friar Laurence agrees to marry them in an attempt to end the fight between the families. Unfortunately, the fight between the Montagues and the Capulets gets worse and Mercutio (Romeo's best friend) ends up in a fight with Tybalt (Juliet's cousin). Tybalt kills Mercutio, which causes Romeo to kill Tybalt in a fit of rage. For this, Prince (the Chief of Police) banishes Romeo from Verona. Juliet Capulet, according to her parents' wish, is to be married off to Paris. She does not want to marry him so she arranges with Friar Laurence to fake her own death with a sleeping potion that will make everyone think that she is dead. Friar Laurence promises to send word to Romeo to meet her when the potion wears off and to take her to Mantua (where Romeo is residing, after being banished from Verona). Unfortunately, Romeo does not receive this message on time and upon hearing of her death, he goes to Juliet's empty tomb where he drinks poison and dies. When Juliet's potion wears off, she awakens to find her lover's corpse... .... If Romeo hadn't gone to the party, he would never have met Juliet who would have been married off to Paris. In this case, the story would not have taken place. While going to the party, Romeo feels that he would die at an early age. His negative thinking could also have been an 'incentive' to his own death. Romeo and Juliet decide to get married. This is a wrong decision in the play but is decided by fate. Friar Laurence made the biggest blunder of all by agreeing to get them married. If Romeo had controlled himself and not killed Tybalt, he would not have been banished from Verona. This would prevent another worry to his tragic love life; crime. By killing Tybalt, Romeo Montague became a criminal and a fugitive. "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life."

Generation Gap

The generation gap is the different generations have different views of the same thing with different ideal. Different environments to create different people and different circumstances produce different thoughts. The emergence of the generation gap in a family is the responsibility of parents and children, parents often complain that children now too do not respect their parents; the children also complain that their parents do not understand children, making the original and the happy family have strife. It contrary to the point of view for the parents, children have their new insights and cause different thinking ideas, behaviors, habits according to their parents. Parents and children have different psychological characteristics. Children have ideals and aspirations, vision of a better future, thinking broad, have flexible response, creative spirit, fast to accept new things, strong ability of adapting to the new environment and prefer independent thinking. There has strong sense o f innovation, ingenuity, courage to break the stereotypes. However, the lack of social experiences their ideas easily extreme and deal with the problem is not calm. Parents were already undergoing many things, mature wisdom, character, maturity, and in interpersonal communication has a lot of experience. Parents see deep and thorough problem, but sometimes because of traditional attitudes, bondage of feudal ideology, ideological and stubborn, conservative, and so on.Besides that, the authoritative ideological heavier of some parents, assertive, requires children to unconditionally obey, so the children will be dissatisfied. For example, there is abundant energy of the younger generation, and competition, innovation, independent, unwilling to be controlled by others, giving a â€Å"bold and unconstrained† impression. In this regard, the older parents are not understood; feel that children had too much wind. Such deviation is bound on the understanding of direct impact to the at titudes and behavior of both sides, and both sides of the generation gap.If you both can do a role change, play the role of your opponent, to experience each others emotions, it's good to change their views, to facilitate exchanges. In this society, the generation gap is a universal phenomenon, it hinders the thoughts, feelings and daily exchanges between parents and children and communication. If the children cannot accept the arrangement of the parents, the children also must be respect their parents, trying to communicate with them, talk with them to explain their ideas like this, sometimes parents and children are also able to reach a consensus. Generation Gap Leo Tolstoy said: â€Å"All families are happy in the similar way and unhappy in its own way†. And happiness or unhappiness of any family mostly depends on relations in it. So many families so many family relations. Each family establishes its own relations in its own way. It has its own traditions and customs and its own unwritten constitution including rights and duties of every member of the family. They are also different in different families. So the problem of misunderstanding becomes urgent. Some people can it generation gap.And both sides (parents and children) should be patient and tactful and it’s the only way to settle down all the problems and stay friends. Youth is a very important period in the life of man. This is the time when a person discovers the world and tries to determine the place in the universe. Young people face lots of problems which are very important for them and do not differ much from those that once their parents had to deal with. At the same time every generation is unique. It differs from the one that preceded it in its experience, ideals and a system of values. The adults always say that the young are not what they were. These words are repeated from generation to generation. To some extent they are true, because every new generation grows up quicker, enjoys more freedom. It is better educated and benefits from the results of the technological progress of the time. Young people of today do not directly accept the standards of their parents who believe that they are right because they are older. The adults don't want their values to be questioned. The young on the other hand can not accept the values of their â€Å"fathers†.All these differences generate a generation gap when the young and adult do not understand one another. As a rule the adults, dissatisfied with their own lives, teach the young how to live. Unfortunately, the adults apply old standards to the new way of life. They can not leave behind the ir â€Å"good old days†. This burden is very heavy. They think that the world is going down hill. They gloomily look ahead unable to understand the optimism of their children who want to pave their own way in life. The majority of the young people do not want to live in the past. They have their own ideals. They want to make their own mistakes rather than to listen to the warnings of the adults and repeat the mistakes of the older generation. They want to overcome their own difficulties without looking back. However, the life of the young is frequently determined by the adults. I think that parents will never understand their children. And children, in their turn, shock their parents with their dress, language, behaviour. Traditionally, young people were looking at their elders for guidance. Today the situation is different.Sometimes the young people share information and experience with their parents. I think that it is not bad, especially when the adults really try to unders tand what is going on in the lives of their children. Moreover, young people grow up so quickly that they almost do not have time to enjoy their childhood. So, as you see, it is very difficult to be young nowadays, as it always was. But you only can be young once, and some wonderful things can happen only when you’re young. So, it is be to enjoy youth while it lasts. Generation Gap The generation gap is the different generations have different views of the same thing with different ideal.

Treating Long-term Elderly Patents with Pressure Ulcers

Serial Sharp Debridement and Formulated Collagen Gel to Treat Pressure Ulcers in Elderly Long-term Care Patients: A Case Study Patients at Long Term Care Facilities are generally debilitated and elderly people who have incontinence problems. Incontinence makes treating pressure ulcers very difficult because it alters tissue tolerance and reapplying products becomes very costly. Usually negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is used to treat pressure ulcers but it is also very costly and does not match with some wound locations. Collagen plays a vital role in the wound healing process by creating a framework for the adhesion, movement, and production of new cells. This study determined the effects and uses of Type 1 formulated collagen on granulation tissue formation and reepithreelialization in chronic pressure ulcers. Eligible participants for the application of Type 1 formulated collagen gel must 1) have an open pressure ulcer at least 2.0 cm in diameter that did not heal after using NPWT and 2) have no symptoms of and wound or bone infection. The three patients in the study had a wound of at least 18 months’ and had showed no signs of improvement during 4 weeks of NPWT. The patients received the standard care including the treatment of moist wound healing and debridement, prevention of additional skin breakdown, and maintenance of functional abilities. Before beginning the use of collagen gel, sharp debridement was performed with additional sharp debridement performed atShow MoreRelatedHesi Practice31088 Words   |  125 Pages C.
